First (1st) trimester of my mother’s pregnancy

  • My parents (father and mother) were surprised to learn that my mother had conceived after 1.5 months. I am their firstborn and was conceived during the pandemic. During those months, they were participating in physical exercises, going up and down the stairs of our  condo, unaware of my mother’s pregnancy.
  • My parents purchased pregnancy test kits and my mother used two separate kits to confirm her  pregnancy.
  • My parents then went to our first Obstetrician-Gynecologist (Ob-Gyn) for consultation and pregnancy test verification (such as, ultrasound).
  • All-in-all (that is, from 1st to 3rd trimesters), my parents consulted at least three (3) Ob-Gyn doctors –not to mention those in their list of ob-gyns. The 2nd Ob-Gyn later became our official ob-gyn and surgeon during my mother’s Cesarean delivery.
  • As per doctors’ prescription, my preggy mother ingested multivitamins and minerals and other related supplements (aside from/in addition to those she/we regularly used prior to her pregnancy), as well as, fetal grip medication.
  • More physician-recommended fruits, vegetables, seafoods, and related foods, as well as, superfoods and milk supplements for pregnant women, which were good for my conceiving mother, became regular part of her diet, too. Said items were regularly bought, mostly online, due to the Pandemic; but, whenever there were no sudden surges of cases, my father goes to the nearest market and uses our family’s trolley
  • Due to the COVID Pandemic, my father was keen to disinfect regularly household items, groceries, and other areas of our home. Hence, he purchased various disinfectants, installed a medicine cabinet even when we have a first aid kit, inter alia.
  • In addition to healthy foods, my mother also ensured that she drinks enough water daily by using her outdoor metered kettle/bottle while she works (that is, prior to her 3-month SSS maternity leave with pay where she later received almost the maximum pay equivalent to her monthly salary). You can go to this link to know about the online filing of your SSS maternity benefit claims.
  • In addition to sufficient good water intake for preggy individuals, a few people may not be aware of uncomfy sleep or non-quality, insufficient sleep duration simply because of an old, often-used mattress. Since my parents experienced it firsthand that after they woke up they felt “bed sores/aches,” a newly, purchased and branded family bed is an important factor for an overall good night rest.
  • My mother also bought a few books about pregnancy and here is a sample
  • During the first trimester of my mother, my father and mother downloaded apps (such as, TheAsianParent either in IOS or Android version) on pregnancy to monitor my growth and development, as well as, purchased medical devices (such as, a fetal doppleraneroid sphygmomanometerhealth monitoring smartwatchesweighing scale, to mention a few) to check my vitals regularly. [NOTE: If you want to buy, you can click the device’s name to go to the link where the item was bought. In the event the device is unavailable, you can search the shop, visit other online stores (such as, https://lazada.ph) or look over the internet (such as, from https://amazon.comhttps://aliexpress.com, etc.).

Second (2nd) trimester of my parent’s pregnancy

  • During the second trimester of my mother’s pregnancy, I was auditorily exposed to watch movies (where the respective audios were in the native languages with English subtitles for my parents to read and understand since my father is trilingual and my mother is bilingual). According to my mother’s monthly watching regimen: December = Arabic; November = Japanese; October = Korean; September =Chinese; August = French; July = Greek; June = Russian… There were myriad movies from Youtube.com and other channels where free subscriptions for certain periods were available. (Here is a list of major languages worldwide.)
  • I was also engrossed to classical music composers, such as but not limited to: Bach, Johann Sebastian (1685–1750); Beethoven, Ludwig van (1770–1827); Brahms, Johannes (1833–97); Chopin, Frédéric (1810–49); Debussy, Claude (1862–1918); Haydn, Joseph (1732–1809); Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus (1756–91); Tchaikovsky, Pyotr Ilyich (1840–93); Vivaldi, Antonio (1678–1741); Wagner, Richard (1813–83). Most of the list of classical music were from google.com, whereas the music itself were from my father’s Apple Music family subscription.
  • My parents also purchased a pregnancy music beltmaternity belt, maternity pillow, foldable portable maternity toilet chair, maternity dress, “pregnant on board” stickers, and a lot more, which cost a few bucks. Other things include, but may not be limited to: foldable utility trolley/grocery cart, steam mop, disinfectants, to mention a few.

Third (3rd) trimester of pregnancy of my loving mother

  • Physician-recommended lab tests were conducted (such as, OGCT, Blood sugar monitoring, 3D/4D Congenital Anomaly Scan (CAS), and so on) on a regular basis.
  • Our family, including our immediate families, celebrated our online “Gender Reveal: It’s a Boy!” Here’s the online shop where my parents bought the items and accessories used for the said family event.
  • During the last month of my mother’s 9-month pregnancy, my parents had walking exercises at the University of the Philippines’ Academic Circle in Quezon City.
  • Due to my pregnant mother’s weight, my father even bought a wheelchair in the event of my mother’s prelabor from our home to the hospital. My father even mapped the emergency lanes leading to our route from home to the hospital.
  • As a recap to the aforesaid, my parents and I had regular ob-gyn checkups, had healthy food consumptions (such, as fruits, vegetables, etc.), had normal intake of multivitamins and minerals, prescribed lab tests, regular consultations, gadget installed apps for baby’s development, typical music regimens and exercises for enhanced fetal growth and development, to name a few.
  • My parents packed our things for hospital pre-admission given that my mother will undergo Cesarean delivery of me because of my breech position.
  • While still in my mother’s womb, according to both of my parents, I had surprising routines (such as, I was mostly active when my parents were asleep since there were times they got up from their bed and noticed it. They both surmised that it might have been because I “know” when they take their rest and I am awake as part of my fetal survival instinct. Through google.com search, my parents later had known that the fetus’ circadian cycle/rhythm consists of increased movement during the night reflective of a baby’s normal development (Does your baby kick you in the evening? That’s a good sign, 2019).
